The fighting in Gaza has entered a third week, defying international outrage and calls for a ceasefire. Overnight, Israeli planes and tanks hit targets said to be rocket launch sites, weapons caches and tunnels used for smuggling arms. |

Palestinian prisoner release goes ahead
A week late, Israel has gone ahead with the release of more than 200 Palestinian prisoners. The Israelis say the delay was at the Palestinians’ request, due to President Mahmoud Abbas attending the hajj pilgrimage in Mecca. |
