Russia, unlike EU, to continue arms exports to Uzbekistan

Russia will not follow the European Union's example and impose an embargo on arms supplies to Uzbekistan, Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Friday. "Our relations with Uzbekistan are consistently improving in all area, including in military-technical [cooperation]," Ivanov said. "There are no restrictions on weapons supplies, expect commonly recognized international regulations and norms."
The EU decided to impose an arms embargo from Monday on Uzbekistan after the authorities in the county refused to allow an international investigation into a bloody uprising in the city of Andijan in May.
