February, 16th 2010  Saudi official questions new sanctions on Iran
Saudi Arabia's foreign minister on Monday expressed doubts about the usefulness of more sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program. Prince Saud al-Faisal told a news conference in the Saudi capital that the threat posed by Iran's nuclear ambitions demands a more immediate solution than sanctions. He described sanctions as a long-term solution, and he said the threat is more pressing.

December, 31th 2009  Iran’s reformist leaders ‘flee’ Tehran
Iranian reformist leaders Mir Hossein Moussavi and Mehdi Karouobi are reported to have left Tehran. The circumstances of their departure remain shrouded in mystery. The official IRNA news agency says they have fled voluntarily to the north of the country after seeing a “surge of anger from people who desire to punish”.

The leaders of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states reaffirmed the right of the UAE and its sovereignty over the three islands, 'the Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Musa' as well as the territorial waters, airspace, continental shelf and exclusive economic zone of the three islands as the integral part of the United Arab Emirates.

A senior official at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) underlined the current partnership with the UAE in the framework of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative (ICI), hailing Abu Dhabi's hosting of the alliance's  
International Conference on "NATO-UAE Relations and the Way Forward in the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative", last October.
December, 04th 2009  Iran'search for S-300: strategy of balance or prevailing?
Iran has notched up its level of confrontation in dealing with the outside world over the past weeks — not only with the West and the International Atomic Energy Agency, or IAEA, but also with neighboring oil-rich Arab monarchies. For exemple, quite recently the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union (AIPU) has renewed its support to the UAE's legitimate right of regaining its three islands of Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, occupied by Iran. The committee urged Iran to respond positively to UAE's proposals of resolving the issue through direct negotiations or by referring it to the International court of Justice. But in vain.

October, 12th 2009  UAE informs UN about its law on the "peaceful use of nuclear energy"
The United Arab Emirates has informed the United Nations that the law it has passed recently on the peaceful use of nuclear energy was an important step to embody a peaceful nature to all aspects of its nuclear program which will come into commercial operation in 2017, adding that the move is aimed at benefiting from nuclear program for peaceful purposes, particularly in generating electricity and improving medical and industrial services.

H.E. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council has lauded the Federal Law Decree No. 6 of 2009, issued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, pertaining to the Peaceful Uses of Nuclear Energy and the UAE's endeavours development of a peaceful nuclear energy programme.
